Mary: Two suicides to finish up the workout.
COT: I had not come up with anything for my COT. I thought about it for a little bit and was in a good mood. We had just settled down from a pretty big day of celebrating my Mother in-laws 60th birthday. One of her gifts was a collection of letters from friends and family accompanied by pictures in a binder. She also surprised us all by writing her feelings of everyone, reading them, very emotional. So my COT will be on Joy. Perfect, let me just google Joy get a “Webster’s” note on it, tie it together with my own experience of the previous day. Joy is great.
I found theopedia.com. This is neat, An encyclopedia of Biblical Christianity. I was typing different words, it would define it very simply give verses and context. I also liked how it defined Joy: Joy is a state of mind and an orientation of the heart. It is a settled state of contentment, confidence and hope. It is something or someone that provides a source of happiness.
I continued to play with the site typing in words and phrases to see what it would materialize. It was way too late now and with a solid 5 hours of sleep to be had if I were asleep at this moment, let me go back to Joy and screenshot for COT.
Joy is a state of mind and an orientation of the heart. It is a settled state of contentment, confidence and HOPE. It is something or someone that provides a source of happiness.
That’s weird. I don’t think joy being with hope. Lets throw hope in the search engine, what does it say?
“Biblical hope is not an uncertain desire. It is a confident expectation.”
Two sentences. No verses. Nothing. One reference, click the link, 404 Error Page Not Found. Great! There’s no HOPE!
“Biblical hope is not an uncertain desire. It is a confident expectation.” I Need to get to bed. “Biblical hope is not an uncertain desire. It is a confident expectation.” . Why is this new to me? “Biblical hope is not an uncertain desire. It is a confident expectation.” I understand what I am reading, but it does not make sense. This is not the word I know. HOPE.
I went deeper into google to read about this word that has been presented to me many times. “Because of Jesus, there is HOPE”. I have heard it in a ton of sermons, grazed right over, “HOPE makes us strong”, nope didn’t register. It looks pretty in red and green at Christmas time. I have never really thought about it.
Biblical hope is not an uncertain desire. It is not, “I hope there is not traffic on my commute” or “I hope they have my favorite pastry at the coffee shop”. It is a confident expectation.
The only way I can describe this biblical hope is, as a “Believer” you have HOPE. I have been trying to think of a sentence to solidify in my head. The only thing I can think of is when you die and you are looking around: This is everything I HOPED.
- YHC did not get much sleep last night. Do not Google after 11:00pm. You know you are tired when you have the thought, I wonder what George Lucas thinks about Hope. He did write a movie about it……..
- We all love the Hill!
- There is no Plan!
- Listening to people talk philosophy while running is relaxing. Might need to find some Pod Casts.
- WE NEED MORE RUCKERS!
