COT – A daily message from Pastor Burton.  Funny Car got me linked up with his daily devotions and they are fantastic.  Today I shared his message from Thursday:

Good morning. How are you feeling these days, physically, emotionally, spiritually? Do you have someone who “checks” on you, gives you encouragement, support, and inspiration? We all need a little extra push! I hope you are able to connect with someone to help you along your way. I also hope you are offering this as well!

Psalm 63:1 (New Living Translation)

O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.

Have you ever been in one of those situations where these words in the Psalms seem very applicable? While most of us have never been in a “parched and weary land where there is no water,” we all go through spiritual “dry spells” where we feel alone, abandoned, worn out and “thirsting” for something. At that point, when we are truly “searching for God,” God shows up, comes to us, offers us help, and does wonderful things in our lives to restore us. As Christians, we see this happen once we come to God through Jesus, for at that point we are connected through Holy Spirit not only to God, but to other believers as well. We continue to thirst, but not because we are parched, rather, due to our new “hunger and thirst for righteousness” that comes once we are in Christ. May we quench this as we grow in our faith!

In Christ,

Burton
