Double applesauce mosey one lap around the building and back; pick up coupons and move to the playground.
The Thang
Do You Have a Flag? – One PAX moseyed around the building with his team’s flag. While he’s gone, the rest of his team has to complete 100 reps each of the sets below. Rinse/repeat with the next PAX and the next set until both Set 1 and 2 have been completed twice. If you finish your 400 reps early, you can send someone to go get the flag and bring it back to the next runner.
- Set 1:
- Pull-ups
- Foot Release Squats
- OH Press
- Leg Lifts
- Set 2:
- Curls
- Block Jump Overs
- Merkins
- Superman
War of Attrition – Two teams line up approximately 25m apart; at “GO” all PAX do 5 each of HR Merkin, Big Boy Sit-Up, and Goblet Squat (if possible), then rifle carry coupon to opposing team’s side. Rinse/repeat for time.
Marvel’s “Bottom Ten” Exercises of 2022 – PAX hold Al Gore and take turns guessing which exercises made YHC’s “Bottom Ten” List. For every wrong guess, we added a rep to each exercise. After everyone’s guessed, we do the reps. We ended up doing 16 reps each of the following:
- Burpees
- Murder Bunnies
- Red Bull Smurph Jack
- Bear Crawl
- Kettle Bell Swings
- Monkey Humpers
- Foxholes
- Rifle Carry
- V-Ups
- LBCs
Mary
We ran it right up to 0800 with the 16 Burpees, so no time for any of that.
COT
Luke 2:49–51
[49] And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” [50] And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them. [51] And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart.
- YHC preached on these verses (about Jesus getting lost at the Temple at 12 years old) the next day.
- YHC made the point that Jesus here illustrates what it means to belong to God (“I must be…”) but also what it means to belong to family/others (“he went down with them…and was submissive to them”).
- YHC pointed out that when we think we belong to ourselves and only ourselves, it can lead to a lot of exhaustion, anxiety, struggle, and bad outcomes. But if we recognized that we belong ultimately to God, but also to others, then we realize we are not our own, but we are not on our own.
Moleskin
- BB title is in reference to the large gift bag YHC brought the various Weinkes in.
- “Do You Have a Flag?” is in reference to this bit by Eddie Izzard.
- Flags were courtesy of YHC’s mind and his 2.0s creative abilities.
- The various Flags/Teams were: It Is Wednesday My Dudes, Laser Kiwi, No Step on Snek (aka Low-Key Libertarian), and Sicily (see above, in clockwise order).
- Workout was much wetter than anyone anticipated. Many PAX said “it’s supposed to clear up by 0715.” They stopped saying that by 0715.
- On that note, the Weinkes did not really hold up.
- Also on that note, one team took it upon themselves to place coupons in the deepest, drudgiest section possible during the “War of Attrition.”
- Some grumbling about YHC’s selections for Bottom Ten Exercises. YHC promptly noted that when you grow up and become Nantan, you can pick whichever 10 exercises you want.
