Archives: In the Spotlight

  • When: 20170912
  • QIC: Scully
  • The PAX: McGruff, Yota, Cowboy, Scully
  • Four Pax chose the gloom of StankHill over the warmth of their bedcovers knowing full well the fellowship found with their brothers would surely give them a bright start to the day:

    THE THANG
Mosey to directly beneath the VB seal prominently displayed on the side of StankHill. From there, beneath the spotlights illuminating the seal, we proceeded to the first landing Bernie Sanders style where 20 Merkins awaited. We then continued our ascent to the base of the seal and then counterclockwise around to the summit for 20 LBC’s. Upon completion, the Pax held plank for those at the six before heading counterclockwise around the seal down to the first landing and 20 additional Merkins. Completion of the circuit involved a quick crawl bear to the base of the hill for 20 more LBC’s  and once again holding plank while awaiting the six.

Rinse and Repeat two more circuits.

The Pax then proceeded directly to Scully Park…at least that was the plan, but upon arrival YHC found that our number had been reduced by 25% and we quickly backtracked to the flags to retrieve a wayward Yota who had gone back to hydrate. Finally back to Scully Park with a full Pax, we paired up and one member of each pair was directed to run to a designated station to perform 10 Burp-Ups or 10 Dips while his partner performed Lunges or Big Boy Sit-Ups until his partner returned. The pairs flip flopped duties and all was going well until Yota once again seemed to be making an earnest attempt to go AWOL as he ran right past the Burp-Up station and was heading off into the gloom at a fairly rapid pace. The Pax took off in pursuit of our “escapee” and finally headed him off just before he made it to the far turn near Independence Blvd. Once back to the Burp-Up station, we knocked out 10 Burpees as a group and headed back to the Flags where Mary was dispensed with in deference to the time and YHC shared the following verse that I felt was particularly applicable to a few of our brothers going through some tough times.

1 Corinthians 10:13New Living Translation (NLT)

13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

Ended a great start to the day with Counterama, Namerama, and COT

(Hopefully the Dodgers can end this day with a WIN)
