Archives: Sticks and Stones

  • When:
  • QIC: Pueblo
  • The PAX: Gandalf, Screen Door, Luau, Tow Rope, Frozone, Sunshine, Scully, Stretchy, Seaworm, B-Team, Space Monkey, Bachelor Pad. Mater, 3 for 1, Mentos, Submac, Deflator, Dreamliner
  • Our biggest turnout yet fell on my first day as Q with a total of 19 PAX. Since Lady Glittersparkle made her glorious return, freshly decorated by SubMac with a carved F3 logo on one end and 3 names burned into her side, each of the PAX took turns carrying her throughout the workout. All PAX not carrying Lady Glittersparkle carried rocks or a personal ruck sack.

    The Thang

Warmarama: 25 Side Straddle Hops (IC), 20 Imperial Walkers (IC), mosey over to the bottom of the stairs.

Carry Lady Glittersparkle to the top of Stink Hill using a bucket brigade.

All PAX not holding Lady Glittersparkle grab rocks:

    • 30 curls (OYO) and run halfway to the next methane release pole
    • 30 squats (OYO) and run to next pole
    • 30 overhead tricep extensions (OYO) and run halfway to next pole
    • 30 big boy sit-ups and run to next pole

    While carrying rocks:

    • Perform backwards bear crawl to bottom of Stink Hill
    • Perform 10 merkins (OYO)
    • Bear crawl back up to the top of Stink Hill
    • Perform 30 seconds of 6 inches (OYO)
    • Repeat sequence for the second trip, but without the rocks

20 second rest, at the end of which SubMac let Lady Glittersparkle touch the ground, resulting in 5 burpees for all.

We grabbed rocks and moseyed to the bottom of Stink Hill and paired up for a repeat of Priorities’ workout that made the QIC spill merlot on his first time out. Each pair combined to complete 100 merkins, 200 LBCs and 300 squats while one of the pair was always running to the top of Stink Hill to touch the methane pole. Each pair took a turn carrying Lady Glittersparkle to the top. All PAX who finished early performed flutter kicks until all were complete.

We then moseyed over the water fountain with our rocks for a quick water break. Lady Glittersparkle again touched the ground, resulting in 5 burpees for all.

Next was interval training. The PAX partnered up and formed a large circle with one pair at the pull up bar. Each pair was assigned a different workout to perform for 30 seconds and were then given 10 seconds to rotate clockwise to the next workout. The workouts were:

    • Curling Lady Glitterparkle
    • Pull ups
    • Planks
    • Lunges
    • Holding rocks with arms extended overhead
    • Shoulder raises
    • Burpees
    • Squats
    • Mountain climbers

All PAX then had to carry their rocks back up the starting point on the top of Stink Hill and then mosey back to the flags for the Circle of Trust.

    Circle of Trust (CoT):

    Counterama and name-o-rama (19 PAX!)

The day’s message was about burdens. First, the rocks/Lady Glittersparkle symbolize the burdens that we all carry everyday (stress, etc). The workout would have been much easier without Lady Glittersparkle and the rocks, just as life would be if we rid ourselves of our burdens. Second, we were all most focused on our own burden, same as in life. Make you stay aware of what other people are going through and do what you can to aid them.
