This morning we had 15 PAX show up for the first workout in December. Funny car led the Q and celebrated his one year anniversary in F3 on November 30. The workout had a basketball theme as Funny car has a life long passion for playing hoops. His shirt said “Never underestimate an old man with a basketball.” Funny car announced the theme of the workout was a quote from Coach Dean Smith: Play Hard – Play Smart – Play Together.
Funny car then introduced the PAX to a basketball nicknamed “Sweet Mo” after Moses Malone who is from the same hometown as Funny car (Petersburg, VA). Funny car shared with the PAX how Moses Malone was one of the best offensive rebounders to play in NBA which takes a lot of hard work and desire. If Sweet Mo touched the ground during the workout then everyone had to do five burpees. Sweet Mo never hit the ground.
Funny car then showed to PAX how to get in a basketball defensive position. Throughout the workout when Funny car shouted “F3”, all PAX were to get in the defensive position and shout “Hey”.
The Thang
During each warm-up exercise a PAX held Sweet Mo. After the exercise Sweet Mo was passed to another PAX and so on.

Funny car shared the following to the PAX – Jimmy V said the following in 1993 at the ESPY’s: “To me there are three things everyone should do every day. Number one is laugh. Number two is think — spend some time time in thought. Number three, you should have your emotions move you to tears. If you laugh, think and cry, that’s a heck of a day.”
The main workout called “Mr. Brooks” involved suicide runs with exercises between each suicide run. Dave Brooks was Funny car’s JV basketball coach and almost every practice Coach Brooks had the team run lots of suicides. The PAX ran 16 sets of suicides and performed 15 different exercises. After each suicide a PAX would select an exercise, run another suicide after the exercise, do another exercise, and so on. Sweet Mo was passed to another PAX after each exercise and the PAX holding Sweet Mo selected the next exercise as well as announcing the name of a college or professional basketball player before starting the next suicide. Each PAX selected an exercise.
Mosey back to the flags
Space Monkey went over the December challenge which is holding a plank as long as you can. Each PAX then held a plank as long as he could to establish their base time for the challenge.

Circle of Trust – In the spirit of the holiday season, Funny car talked about three messages from the movie It’s A Wonderful Life. These messages were the power of prayer, the positive impact we can have on the lives of others, and the importance of our friendships.
