Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

F3’s mission statement is to plant, grow, and serve small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership. The following covers the leadership structure, position, and roles in F3.

F3 is a starfish organization. A starfish organization has a decentralized leadership structure. Examples include Alcohol Anonymous (AA), the Apaches, and YouTube. The analogy for the organization is a Starfish that has a decentralized neural structure permitting regeneration. It’s about having a genuine interest in others, desire to help everyone, trust in others, a hands-off approach, and the ability/willingness to let go. F3 Hampton Roads continues to work toward this model with “slipkicking” tasks to the appropriate HIM (High Impact Man).

The standard F3 response goes something like this. PAX, “We should really do X.” Response from leadership, “That’s a really cool idea, how about you Q it?”

The HIMs take full ownership of the following roles for a season. The goal: Take the region to the maximum height one can while in that position. There are no “term limits” on the positions; however, it is accepted and even encouraged for a PAX to hand off a position. This can/should happen when a new PAX is ready to take over. When someone asks, “Who is the next PAX to take your position?” Have an answer AND start developing that PAX to be successful. YHC (Dreamliner) was challenged by this question from Dark Helmet (Nation level leadership core). We want to develop leaders by Schooling, Apprenticeship, Opportunity, Failure (repeat).

  1.  Nant’an: Bing

    1. The Q and Spiritual Figurehead of the Region

      1. It’s his problem

    2. Embodies the ideals of F3 leadership and inspires the pax

  2. Weasel Shaker: McGruff

    1. One of the most underappreciated roles, the Weasel Shaker is responsible for making sure the pax are all carrying out their responsibilities (shaking the weasels).

      1. He is a spreadsheet-loving, rule embracing, detail-oriented sort that helps to give the Nantan the information he needs to effectively guide and make decisions on how to empower Pax to become the leaders they have been called to be.

      2. Keeps his ear to the ground, and his finger on the pulse of the Pax with the Nantan

      3. For example, Wednesday numbers are really high, might be time to split the workout; or, I’ve plotted all the Pax houses on this map and it looks like we could use an AO on the other side of town

  3. IT Q: Marvel

    1. Keeps the technical infrastructure of the region running.

    2. Q Schedule, Website, Databases, etc.

    3. Assists the Nant’an and the rest of the SLT with their areas of responsibility, should those areas need technical support.

  4. Comz Q: Funny Car

    1. It may be obvious, but we’ll state it anyway…

      1. This man is the Q for making sure the Pax stay connected to one another. He understands very clearly that 2ndF does not end at the AO or at the HDHH. Part of what makes F3 work is a dedicated man to keep the drum beating so that Pax have community one with another.

        1. Twitter, Slack, Newsletters, etc. are the tools he uses.

        2. Should be reasonably tech-savvy.

  5. 1st F Q: Piglet

    1. This is the guy that ensures the smooth running of the AOs.

      1. He makes sure that Site Qs are doing their jobs and often will hold regular meetings to do so.

      2. 1st F Q also helps to plan and execute CSAUPs

      3. He works with the Nan’tan and WS to look at the growth of 1st F AO plants.

      4. He holds regular Q Schools for new(er) Pax, for PHT.

  6. 2nd F Q: Moneyball (West) / Sunshine (East)

    1. Mr. Party Pants. Whether it be HDHH, family picnics, Christmas Parties, or Coffeeteria, this is the guy who makes the donuts. The ComzQ is his best friend, as he attempts to get Pax motivated and excited about Fellowshipping together.

  7. 3rd F Q: OPEN

    1. This job is one of the tougher ones… the 3rd F Q really needs to understand the needs and wants of his Pax.

      1. He can plant anything from a weekly Bible Study to an open discussion group to a regular community service opportunity for Pax. His role is the essence of the real mission of F3. Male COMMUNITY Leadership. It’s ambiguous on purpose, but it needs to make IMPACT.

  8. Site/AO Qs: See list on our Locations page

    1. The F3 Ambassadors, if you will. Every man’s first impression of F3 will likely be guided by the work of these men. This is where the rubber really meets the road.

    2. He makes sure that the core principles are kept intact, which is impossible to do if HE ISN’T THERE. So, the inferred commandment is, BE THERE. Every time. Period.

      1. He plants the flag for the AO, makes folks feel welcome, makes sure the disclaimer is correctly spoken, picks up the 6, etc.

      2. He manages safety for the site (don’t post if there is a bunch of lightning, that sort of thing).

      3. He manages the Q schedule. Practices Voluntoldism…

      4. He sells the AO, the Qs, and the Mission of F3.

      5. He harasses Qs to write BBs, etc
